Neutral Ground

Zara blouse and pants-, Jimmy Choo platform heels, La Mer chain/wrap watch,
Oscar De La Renta belt, bangles-London, clutch-India (also seen here)
On Sunday my sister and her fiance treated Aneesh, Ariyana, and me to a wonderful dinner over at Strega on the waterfront.  For dinner I wore these pink pants and a white silk blouse and for the past few weeks these have been my "go to" pants. The pants are comfortable, fun, and a welcome change from all the dark pants hanging in my closet. They are great too because I can dress them up with heels or wear them with flats for a more casual look.  And while I love all the bright colors for the spring I am equally drawn to these softer neutral tones.  I know my mom will like this outfit because for a change I am not wearing black.

Have you bought a pair of colored pants for the spring/summer?

Prints Charming

On Sunday we went over to our friends house for a casual brunch and to celebrate the arrival their new baby.  Even though I feel like my to do list keeps getting longer, it was nice to ignore this list and just spend a lazy Sunday afternoon drinking champagne and catching up with good friends.  And can you believe it's already May? It was a gorgeous sunny day in Boston yesterday so I thought it would be a great excuse to get dressed up and put on my new printed spring dress.  Unfortunately, it was not warm enough to forgo the tights quite yet.

Thakoon for Target dress, Burberry sunglasses, Madewell oxford slingbacks, Michael Kors watch, turquoise bracelet, and dark purple swarovski crystal bracelet

A Little Flare and A Lot Of Stripes

When I was in New York City a couple of weeks ago I did some shopping in Soho and I found a great pair of flare denim trouser pants at Scoop NYC.  I debated whether to buy a pair of flare jeans since I already have these wide leg jeans. But, once I tried them on I knew I had to have them. They are soft, comfortable and perfect tucked in with a loose blouse and skinny belt.  I like to keep the length of my flared jeans long because I wear usually wear them with platform pumps or wedge sandals. But I think I might have to take this pair to my tailor and have them shortened a bit.

Ariyana is wearing a dress and leggings from Zara. And I am not sure why but she always places her sunglasses over her hair.

Spring Forward

Elie Tahari blouse, H&M skirt and clutch, Madewell Oxford Slingbacks, Banana Republic bracelet, Burberry sunglasses
Ever since I saw layered brights on the Spring 2011 runway I have been ready to set aside all my black and grey clothes and embrace color for the spring season.  Between moving the clocks forward and the sunny weather we had yesterday it almost feels like spring is here.

Will you be adding some color to your wardrobe for the spring/summer?

Happy Monday everyone.  Here are a few of my favorite trends for spring and as I start adding pieces to my wardrobe over the next couple of months I am looking forward to taking some of these trends from the runway and incorporating them into my everyday wardrobe.  I have already added a pleated skirt to my wardrobe and I am looking forward to putting together an outfit inspired by layered brights.

What are some of your favorite spring trends?

Pleats + Lace

Last weekend we went to Charlotte, NC to visit my family and it was so nice to spend quality time with everyone, especially my four month old nephew.  I am always so grateful and appreciative of the time we all spend together.

One of the highlights from my trip was having a cup of coffee with the fabulous photographer and blogger Kelly (from Style Attic).  Even though Kelly and I had never met before I felt like I already knew her.  Kelly's blog was one of the first ones I came across when I started my blog and her photography is so inspiring to me.  Her blog posts are consistently creative, authentic, and best of all she always tells a story through her photos. Kelly is truly a genuine and beautiful person and she clearly has a natural flair for fashion photography.  If you get a chance do head over to Style Attic to check out some of the additional pictures Kelly took during our mini photo shoot.

Bright Colors and Bold Prints

DVF blouse, Chanel sunglasses, Banana Republic skirt, Hue reversible tights, DVF heels
All this snow and cold weather is depressing so I figure adding color to my wardrobe and getting a head start on spring shopping is a guaranteed way to cheer up.  I found this colorful floral DVF blouse hidden on the sale rack at Saks and it's perfect because bold prints and bright colors are two trends I am really looking forward to embracing this spring and summer.

We had a great weekend but as usual it went by entirely too fast.  On Saturday I spent most of the day in my pajamas and baked some delicious treats with Ariyana.  And then Aneesh and I had dinner with our friends to celebrate their recent engagement.  Yesterday we promised Ariyana we would take her out wherever she wanted and she insisted on going back to the Museum of Fine Arts. We also had brunch with some friends at Stella, one of our favorite restaurants in Boston. Stella was participating in the Super Hungry Brunch, an annual event where top restaurants around town donate their time, food, and services to the benefit of the Greater Boston Food Bank. We had a prix fixe brunch and 100% of the proceeds went directly to the Food Bank.

Black and Blue

Welcome back to the work week. This is going to be a busy week as we prepare to host both of our families next weekend for Ariyana's birthday celebration.  The past couple of years we had low key celebrations for Ariyana's birthday at home but this year for her 3rd birthday we are throwing a dance party with our family and friends.   Ariyana is really into Bollywood music so we thought it would be fun to have an evening dance party at a local studio where parents and kids can all just put on their dancing shoes and have some fun.
F21 sunglasses,  Miguel Ases earrings, Banana Republic blazer, Bordeaux ruffle blouse (Anthropologie), Citizens of Humanity Avedon slick skinny jean leggings, Stuart Weitzman 50/50 over the knee boots, The Sak Pax leather crossbody handbag

I wore this black and blue outfit Sunday to a birthday party and out shopping in Boston. I love the combination of black and navy and I thought a blue inspired outfit was perfect for the "Baby Blues" guest post I am doing over at Expecting Chic today as well.

I am also obsessed with this new convertible handbag I got from The Sak.  After seeing the lovely one my sister has (here) I wanted one too.
This bag can be worn folded over as a crossbody bag or over one shoulder.
The straps can be removed and the bag doubles up as a good sized clutch.
And it can be worn as a messenger style crossbody bag.
