It's The Little Things

My sister recently introduced me to livingsocial and she sent me this amazing deal on The Setai Hotel.  When I checked it out I knew this would be perfect place to stay for our mini getaway to New York City.  This brand new 5 star luxury hotel is conveniently located in Midtown right on 5th avenue.  There were so many little things about this hotel that made our experience enjoyable but  here's just a few.....
A beautiful view of the Empire State Building from our spacious room
A rainfall shower, oversized tub, and bath salts

 TV on the bathroom mirror

And the best thing about the hotel was this complimentary Maserati that would take you wherever you wanted to go in Manhattan

                     Burberry sunglasses, Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag, Zara jacket, BCBG top, JBrand jean leggings, Stuart Weitzman boots, necklace-gift from my mom from India

Getaways

Traveling has been a passion of mine ever since I was little.  It all started when I was 8 years old and my parents put me on a plane by myself to visit family in London.  I love exploring new places but I also enjoy going back and visiting some of our favorite destinations.  And with all the snow we are having in Boston this winter I am definitely ready for a vacation right now!

I hope you will head over to Connie's lovely blog Sogni e Sorrisi today and check out my guest post on my favorite travel getaway.  Here you will find my favorite places to dine, vacation essentials, and a few of my packing tips.

Farewell to.........

Farewell to long walks on the beach on hot summer days

 sweet cherries (and mangos and watermelon)
leisure bike rides with no particular destination
gorgeous Nantucket
outdoor boutique shopping
colorful summer flowers
weekends where the weather is hot enough to sit on a bench and people watch
(and get sidetracked with my new gadget)
sandals and cute summer skirts

and farewell to summer dresses!

What will you be saying farewell to this summer?

Style'n tips: Get the Skinny

When it comes to jeans I am a big fan of investing in high quality and comfortable ones.
The J Brand 901 Legging (seen here on Kate Beckinsale)  is an ultra light weight denim legging and is a must have and staple item.  I literally wear mine all the time!

I also love the Citizen of Humanity Avedon Slick Skinny Legging Jeans. (as seen on Rachel Bilson) I love these so much I have a pair in dark blue denim and black.  (See, I told you when I love something I end up buying two of them. )  These jeans are truly top quality and super comfortable.

But I have to say that I just discovered these C & C California stretch denim leggings and I am a huge fan.  These have the comfy fit of leggings with the detailing of jeans.
I got a pair in Midnight blue (as seen below )but some of the other colors are on sale right now.  I  thought I would share a few additional pictures taken from our first day in Nantucket.  We took so many pictures so I will probably end up posting more later in the week.  We had a beautiful and relaxing Anniversary weekend and thank goodness I did not end up needing my trench or rain boots.

Rainy Day Fashion

We were scheduled to take a Ferry later today to Nantucket for the holiday weekend. It's our Anniversary and we were so excited to enjoy a nice long relaxing weekend getaway.  But Earl has put a damper in our plans for today!  I am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather clears by tomorrow because I am looking forward to long walks on the beach, bike rides around the island, and sunset dinners.

It looks like bathing suits and summer dresses are not an option at this point.  Instead,  I might be packing  a trench coat, umbrella, and boots.

{I had to add this picture because I think Emma looks gorgeous wearing a Burberry Trench}
{I love this classic trench coat from Banana Republic. I purchased a similar Khaki Trench in the Spring}
{This belted plaid trench is a great option too}
{Of course every girl needs a good pair of wellies and I will probably be wearing these tomorrow}

{Don't you love fun and colorful umbrella's on gloomy rainy days? I would love this one but seeing how I either break or lose all my umbrella's,  I might need to stick to cheaper options }
What are your plans for Labor Day Weekend?

Tea Time

A couple of months ago we went to London for vacation and to visit family and one day while shopping I noticed a variety of colorful teapots in the display window at Whittard of Chelsea. This store has the best selection of fine loose tea, teapots, tea cups and mugs.  So my aunt and cousin were so sweet and thoughtful and bought a tea pot set for my daughter. She loves it and she has "tea time"  almost everyday.  I also love the mugs and tea pot they gave me as a gift.  They are so bright and stylish and perfect to use when friends stop over for a cup of tea.

One of my favorite things to do is to drink chai tea in the afternoon and it is such a family tradition to do this when we all get together.  My mom makes the best fresh Masala chai,  my sister in law makes the best Ginger chai, and my aunt and cousin in London make the best English tea. My sister...well she just likes it when we all make tea for her!
Here is the tea I typically make. I guess I will call it spiced tea or masala chai.
Spiced Tea(serves 2)
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups of water
1 small cinnamon stick (1 inch)
6 cardamom pods (for best flavor open and crush the cardamom. You can use mortar/pestle or even just a spoon to do this)
6 cloves
1/2 cup milk (adjust depending on your preference)
sugar (optional)
3 teaspoons loose black tea
Directions
Place the water in a pan. Add the cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves and bring to a boil. Next, add the loose black tea and simmer for 5 minutes. If you prefer a stronger and darker tea then simmer a few minutes longer. Add the milk and sugar and bring to a boil.  Turn off heat and using a tea strainer pour tea into tea cups. Serve immediately.

Enjoy!

Week in Review

Our vacation week in Maui is almost over and we will soon be back to reality.  I thought I would share a few pictures from the week and some of the things I loved about this vacation.
What do you love most about vacation?

                                        {I enjoyed reading this book and loved sipping on red wine}

                                              {I loved waking up early and doing yoga on the beach}

                                           {I loved sitting by the pool and long walks on the beach}

                                              {I loved eating dinner while watching the beautiful sunset }

Coral+Sequins+Maui Sunset

Recently my posts have been about my vacation in Maui, corals, and sequins. I figured this collage kind of brings it all together.  This beige straw woven flap clutch is from Calypso and the coral dress is from 344 Newbury. What I love most about this clutch is that it matches almost everything I brought on vacation. I love packing light and it's great when I can use one evening bag with all my outfits.

Even though Hawaii is so far from home, we absolutely love vacationing here and we keep coming back! I love the clear blue water here and every sunset is gorgeous and different from the next.  We  literally plan our entire day and evening around the sunset.

Do you have a favorite vacation spot you like to visit over and over again?

Dinner in Paradise

Aloha from Maui, Hawaii.  We are having a great time on vacation this week.   One of our favorite things to do is to eat our meals at the bar.  It gives us a chance to interact with some of the locals and other guests sitting at the bar.  My husband and I  typically order appetizers and share them as our meal. This way we get a nice sampling of the flavors and we don't end up over eating.   Last night we had this amazing tomato soup, Tuna Tartare, and Seafood Risotto at Spago Restaurant.

Stay tuned to more pictures from Tropical Paradise.
