I also attended the advance screening of this movie last night in Boston and overall I found the movie inspiring and I enjoyed it. In most cases a movie never really never lives up to the detailed character development you get by reading the book. And this movie is no exception. And there are definitely parts of the movie that seem contrived and a bit self indulgent. However, if you focus on positive aspects of this movie and don't go into it with really high expectations then you will enjoy it. So basically, if you appreciate beautiful cinematography and love Julia Roberts then this movie is for you. Also, if you have not read the book yet then you will probably enjoy the movie more than those of us who have read the book.

I won advance screening tickets too, but I ended up skipping it which I was a little bummed about. They said to get their an hour earlier though, and I didn't feel like doing that. I haven't read the book yet, would you said watch the movie and then read the book? Or just see the movie?

i love julia's new hair color! so pretty. not that excited about her outfit choice though...
i totally pictured javier bardem while reading the book and think he was a perfect cast for the role of her love interest! i still want to see the film even though i will probably feel so so about it!
I think he outfit is classy and age appropriate. I definitely want to see the movie.

Love her. Lover her. Lover her. Hmmm ... that's exactly what I am excepting from the movie. I hope they do not some how manage to ruin the book for me. But I am sure i will love Julia. I always do :) Glad you had a good time as the screening!

Question...I haven't read the book. What do you think I should do first - read the book or see the movie? I'm thinking the former; but I thought I'd ask just in case. :)

i love her outfit. good to know about the movie.. i already found the book to be very self indulgent so that does not surprise me. but i will go into it just like i went into SATC2.. not having high expectations and just for the scenery, etc.. and hopefully i will like it!

Good to know about the movie...I am reading the book right now and plan to watch it as soon as I am finished but maybe now I don't have to.
I'll see this movie when it comes out on dvd. I'm not going to pay $16 to see it.

Love her shoes, not so much in love with her outfit..I prefer books to movies and rarely watch screen adaptions since they spoil the book for me..However, since its Julia I am very tempted:-) also, there is James Franco, droool:-)

I am really not a fan of Julia Roberts after reading and watching her endless interviews where she brags on and on about her perfect self, even at one point saying "I see people pregnant with one child and I think what's the point" (because she had twins) so it really killed this movie for me.

I'm really hesitant to see the movie because I've read the book.. but I do think Julia looks great here - vibrant and happy with out the over-the-top glam that usually presents itself at a premier. Very classy!
she looks fantastic! she's publicly said she believes in aging gracefully and isn't into botox etc. whatever her beauty regimen may be, it's definitely working for her! love this black ensemble and the shorts are a wonderful alternative for red carpet!

You know what's funny? The other day my best friend pointed out what a jerk she was on 'My Best Friend's Wedding' -- one of my all time favorite movies. At first I was like, "NO! NOT JULIA!" But, she WAS a homewrecker! LOL!
