My New Favorite Hostess Gift

Here is my list of great  hostess gifts.  There are times I might pick up a unique item from a local boutique or store, such as loose tea, a fun piece of jewelery, gourmet coffee, or scented candles.   But, the list below focuses on the gifts I usually give as a hostess gift.  (And based on this list below, there's no denying I  am partial to gifts that involve some type of eating or drinking!)

1. Wine. Usually I select one of my favorite red or white wines to take as a gift.  But sometimes a port or a dessert wine is a nice change.
2. Fresh Flowers. This is always a safe gift.  But other options are also fresh herbs or plants such as orchids or fresh cut basil.
3. Champagne. Ah, who doesn't love a good bottle of bubbly?  And this gift is perfect when there is a special occasion. (Although, I am not saying there has to be a special occasion to enjoy champagne!)
4. Dessert.  Sometimes I like to pick up fresh baked cookies or cupcakes from a local bakery. If I have more time, I like to bake a simple cake or pie and take it over. (but somehow this option does not happen as much as I would like it to)

Here is my new favorite hostess gift
5. Beautifully crafted chocolate sweets

I just heard about  this new chocolate cafe in South Boston called Blue Tierra Chocolates.  Blue Tierra specializes in handcrafted chocolates, pastries, and desserts.  They truly are unique because they use natural ingredients and everything is fresh. At Blue Tierra, they even use local and organic ingredients when possible. They also serve loose leaf tea, origin coffees, and coffee elixirs.  And the truffles are infused with spices and flavors from all over the world.
Blue Tierra serves this amazing chocolate called Wasaberry, which is a dark chocolate ganache infused with wasabi and raspberry puree enrobed in dark chocolate.
And did you see those adorable green turtles? They were so delicious!

What is your favorite "go to" hostess gift?

-Wasaberry chocolates infused with wasabi and raspberry puree
-beautiful exposed brick sitting area with middle eastern pillows and antique tables
-amazing selection of loose tea and coffee
-fresh baked cookies and pastries
-green turtle chocolates--so adorable!

I love to bring wine from one of my favorite wineries that we visit in Michigan. I think its always nice to have a "reason" behind the wine. Tonight I am going to a going away party for my cousin that is moving to the big apple! I think I will bring a bottle of champagne.:)

How thoughtful of you to always bring a gift. I try to do the same as well - but it seems like that is not as popular anymore these days. Wine is always a plus! :)

Mmmm chocolate! I've never had a need for hostess gifts yet, but I'd probably go with chocolate or flowers or something, hah

A chocolate cafe? Sounds like a dream come true. There's also Burdick's in Harvard Square. Not sure if you've ever tried it, but it's delicious!

I almost always go for a bottle of wine, but I do put some thought into - whether it's getting the hosts' favorite variety, getting one that comes from a place that has meaning to them or one that has a funny or significant name, etc!

You're right. Those chocolates (any of them) would be a perfect hostess gift. If you're in town, I'll remember to invite you over:).

I love your list of 'go to' gifts. I usually give one of those (from the list) and I am right there with you on the homemade gifts. I love to do this, but often run out of time (or don't think of it soon enough). Since my husband works for Starbucks, (and we get a free lb. per week), at times I give coffee related gifts, which always goes over really well- for them to enjoy 'the morning after.'

I always bring desserts, I have no clue why - it just seems appropriate! Though hand-crafted chocolates sound divine!! :)

As a hostess, I always appreciate wine. I have one guest that always brings vodka, which is also more than welcome. I think candles are a great small gift as well.

Also, love that you have connections to Charlotte! It's an awesome city. And I hope your daughter loves Montessori. I didn't know much about it before I was hired as a teaching assistant, but I absolutely love the independence and confidence it fosters in children. Can't wait to hear about it!

Good choices. They say that we give what we'd like to receive as gifts so perhaps we should give good gifts!

mmmm chocolates look sooo tempting! wine or desserts are usually my common go-tos but i like to select an assortment of individual desserts from a nice bakery. it's fun for guests to share and try different ones.

Totally agree! There is nothing better than a beautifully crafted and divine quality chocolate. I also like to get a little something for the hostess' kids if she has them. Puzzle games are great for the little ones.
