The J Brand 901 Legging (seen here on Kate Beckinsale) is an ultra light weight denim legging and is a must have and staple item. I literally wear mine all the time!
I also love the Citizen of Humanity Avedon Slick Skinny Legging Jeans. (as seen on Rachel Bilson) I love these so much I have a pair in dark blue denim and black. (See, I told you when I love something I end up buying two of them. ) These jeans are truly top quality and super comfortable.
But I have to say that I just discovered these C & C California stretch denim leggings and I am a huge fan. These have the comfy fit of leggings with the detailing of jeans.

I totally agree with you on having high quality & comfortable jeans.
? for you- Per Kris' comment above, I am going to work really hard the next month getting back into the shape that I need to be in to be comfortable in these type of jeans. In the meantime- if you aren't particularly comfortable wearing them w/ a shorter top- but do love the look w/ boots/etc... how would you recommend wearing them (a longer shirt/sweater?)? Or would you recommend holding off on this type of pant (until you're more comfortable wearing w/ a shorter top)?

I also tend to splurge a bit more on jeans than I do on other items. I can justify it since I end it up in jeans for pretty much 7-8 months of the year because it is so darn cold here! You look great and I will definitely have to check out those C&C jeggings.

I just got my first pair of "splurge" jeans and I think they were honestly worth every penny! The fit is sooo much better and they actually held their shape throughout the night! I may even start thinking about a pair of jean leggins...
The J Brands are my favorite, too, but I did find a surprisingly great pair at H&M this year!
