How to update your look

One of my friends and I were discussing how to make some of our older favorite pieces of clothing look more up to date and current. I think one of the easiest ways to update an old look is to simply wear the outfit a different way. The key is to incorporate a newer trend into the outfit by focusing on accessories such as belts, jewelery, shoes, and handbags.  On Saturday I went out to dinner and decided to put on this BCBG dress from last season. This dress actually ties in the back but I really don't like that feature of the dress anymore. So I hid the attached belt by adding  this wide brown belt over it.  I also added a fun watch, a gold cuff, and a pair of  brown peep toe platform pumps to complete the look. I felt like my outfit was instantly updated.

What are your favorite ways to update your look for the summer?

{BCBG dress, Enigma shoes, Prada bag, Tory Burch cuff, La Mer collections watch,
Anthropologie belt, Chanel sunglasses }

I love this look. And I recognized that Anthropologie belt a block off!! LOVE IT with your dress. It looks terrific on you.

You completely hit the nail on the head. Things we love from previous years can most definitely be kept in the mix if we update the accessories. Your dress is an excellent example.

Hope your weekend was grand,
Carrie

You have a head of the most gorgeous hair!

I'm pretty much style-challenged, so apart from saying the colour of your dress is beautiful, I have nothing much else to add!

Hope you had a great weekend :)

Hey! I am back in Texas. It was lovely to meet you and catch up on 'blogger-stuff' Hehe! You look great in this dress. I agree the best way to update a look is to change/add a belt, contrast it with bag and shoes. Or sometimes I just wear the same dress with different hair style and it makes all the difference :) Here's to recycling! Happy Monday!

Your daughter is absolutely gorgeous and I love this outfit. I am seeing so many cute ruffled pieces and I sadly don't have any in my closet!! I will need to change that:).

Wow I love it! You look amazing and did a fabulous job updating it!

I usually try to wear an outfit a different way be it wearing a dress backwards if it has an interesting detail, wearing a skirt as a shirt or shirt as a skirt or adding accessories.

LOVE this outfit! The color of the dress is so pretty!

I just kept it classic on the first day, but I think I'm going to try and have more fun once I get a feel for what's the normal office attire. Thanks for the good luck wishes!
